A NEW REIKI CHALLENGE: Brighton’s babies feel the benefit

Brighton has long been a child-friendly haven and this is a great place to bring up kids. But even with sea air and relaxed atmosphere, many couples still find it difficult to conceive and the stresses of modern life aren’t making pregnancy or child-rearing any easier.

Brighton-based reiki master Rifa Bhunnoo is now tackling this challenge head-on, taking reiki into the Premature Baby Unit at Sussex General Hospital and developing new reiki practice aimed at expecting parents and newborns. This year, couples from across the UK have been coming to see Rifa to learn this ancient healing technique and receive treatments. Rifa says:

“Reiki can help with fertility, pregnancy and children’s illnesses. It’s just a matter of removing tension at a time where the body is often stressed on many levels.The body needs to relax completely to do its job properly, whether you’re trying to give birth, nurture a child or make a baby in the first place!”

Ruth Sharman, from Brighton, went for one-hour treatments over three consecutive weeks:

“I had some reiki in the summer and I’m now 4 months pregnant. It was in the time that I was having reiki that I must have conceived, so I wanted to say a big, big thankyou! as I’m over the moon!”
